The School of Practical Librarianship was organized on November 29 in front of the Kemal Bakaršić Foundation for students of library and information sciences. Participants and guests of the first School of Practical Librarianship were students from the Department of Library Science at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo and students from Information Sciences at the University of Mostar.
Lectures were given by participants: Azra Smajić Gačević (Bibliographies: Why Do We Need Them) and Melisa Hajdarević (Searching and Reserving Materials in the COBISS.bh System) from the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zara Malićbegović (MARC: Machine-Readable Cataloging in Practice) from the publishing house "University Press," and Irena Pejić (Challenges in Implementing Theoretical Frameworks in Library Practice), representative of the Library of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Sarajevo.
"This is just one of the many excellent projects of the Kemal Bakaršić Foundation. We strive to introduce our future colleagues to what we, graduate librarians, do. Our duty and obligation are to open doors and opportunities for those who knock on our doors. I believe, in fact, I am certain, that we will organize something similar to this next year as well. I would love for this to become a tradition, to have guests from other cities next year as lecturers, which is not impossible," said Zara Malićbegović, moderator and organizer of the project.
